The Ultimate Guide to Authentic Mediterranean Products: Why Alpha Omega Imports Leads the Way

For food enthusiasts across America, the search for genuine Mediterranean flavors has led to Alpha Omega Imports, a family-owned importer in Timonium, Maryland, founded in 2016. We bring authentic Greek olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and traditional Mediterranean products from named producers to your doorstep.

What Sets Alpha Omega Imports Apart

Alpha Omega Imports stands apart in a crowded marketplace of Mediterranean products through a simple commitment: every product is traceable to a named producer, a region, and a tradition.

Curated Selection of Authentic Products

Our portfolio spans the Mediterranean, with a special focus on Greece. From Greek extra virgin olive oil milled in Sparta to artisanal Greek feta that captures the essence of traditional dairy craftsmanship, every item in our collection has a producer behind it.

We don't simply import products, we curate experiences. Our olivewood kitchenware complements our food products, allowing customers to create authentic Mediterranean dining experiences in their own homes.

The Proof Is in Our Products: Certifications and Authenticity

When you choose Alpha Omega Imports, you are buying products with named producers, documented certifications, and time-honored production methods.

Sparta Extra Virgin Olive Oil: Made in Laconia

Our flagship Sparta Gourmet extra virgin olive oil is milled by the family-owned Sparta Gourmet plant in Laconia, founded by the Valioti family, from single-origin Koroneiki olives. It is not PDO-certified, because Laconia has no registered PDO for olive oil. What stands behind it instead are its competition awards and, for the Sparta Gourmet Premiere, an independent polyphenol certificate from the World Olive Center for Health (Certificate C2526-00733, 522 mg/kg total polyphenols).

The mill extracts its oil at low temperature on Alfa Laval Contherm equipment and pays its olive producers directly, twice a week. That helps preserve the oil's natural antioxidants, polyphenols, and flavor compounds that make Greek olive oil so distinctive.

Balsamic Vinegar: Authenticity You Can Taste

Our balsamic vinegar collection includes Balsamic Vinegar of Modena PGI and the Botanico range from Domaine Costa Lazaridi in Drama, northern Greece, made by a traditional cooked-must and oak barrel-aging method.

Traditional Production Methods That Honor Heritage

Our Greek feta comes from the Roussas family dairy in Almyros, Thessaly, made from sheep's milk and goat's milk using traditional methods protected by European Union regulations, and reaches us through Roussas' U.S. distributor. The result is cheese with the tangy flavor and creamy texture that has made Greek feta a cornerstone of Mediterranean cuisine.

Building Trust Through Transparency and Partnership

Trust forms the cornerstone of our relationship with customers. We build it through consistent quality, transparent sourcing, and genuine partnerships with Mediterranean producers who share our values.

Named Producer Partnerships

We name the producers behind our products. Our olive oil is milled by Sparta Gourmet, the Valioti family's plant in Laconia. Our feta is made by the Roussas family dairy in Almyros, Thessaly. Our balsamic vinegars come from Domaine Costa Lazaridi in Drama. Our Florina pepper spreads come from the Naoumidis family in Agios Panteleimon, Florina. That level of traceability is difficult with mass-market products.

Transparency in Every Step

We believe customers deserve to know what they are buying and where it comes from. That is why our product pages carry origin stories, producer names, production methods, and certifications.

Recognition

Our Sparta Gourmet olive oil has earned seven international award recognitions, including Gold at the Olive Japan International Olive Oil Competition 2026 and Silver medals at the NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, the London International Olive Oil Competition, and the Athena International Olive Oil Competition.

Quality and Authenticity: The Mediterranean Difference

The Mediterranean diet has been recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. It depends on authentic, high-quality ingredients prepared with traditional methods.

Artisanal Production vs. Industrial Manufacturing

Our traditional Mediterranean products are made by methods that prioritize quality over quantity. Take our olivewood kitchenware: the wood's density and natural oils make it naturally antimicrobial while imparting subtle character to food preparation, which mass-produced wooden utensils cannot replicate.

Taste That Transforms Cooking

Our premium products taste better. The robust, peppery finish and fruity aroma of authentic Greek olive oil can turn a simple salad into a memorable dish. Our balsamic vinegars deliver complex sweetness balanced by gentle acidity that comes from years of aging, which industrial balsamic with caramel coloring cannot match.

Experience the Alpha Omega Imports Difference

Choosing Alpha Omega Imports means choosing a partner committed to bringing the authentic flavors of the Mediterranean directly to your kitchen. Every product is backed by a named producer and traditional production methods.
